FOUR PART CERTIFICATION PROCESS Our aim is to provide young people of all backgrounds an opportunity to develop life enhancing values such as perseverance and honesty through tennis and character education. All kids who come through this program will believe that they can accomplish anything in life. They will develop the self confidence to believe in themselves and create a brighter future. The program is set up so that kids learn to set goals which will help them throughout their lifetime. During the season the children receive points for their accomplishments, attendance and completing required material. These points are accumulated throughout the season. The girl and boy with the highest points accumulated will receive a trophy for their accomplishments. 1. Nutrition Teaching – learning healthy food choices and an application test will be required. 2. Fitness – Fitness will be part of the certification process and kids will be tested at various levels based on their age and level. 3. Core Lesson Exposure a) Tennis – The tennis program is based on the Tennis Canada Awards program and has a bronze, silver and gold component. After each level has been completed the participant will receive a certificate and gain bonus points for their annual scores. All tennis programming is based on the progressive tennis format so kids learn and play tennis at a faster and easier pace using modified equipment and court sizes. b) Character Development – Weekly lesson content is based on our six core values. 4. Skills Application a) On and Off court Life Skills – Points are awarded based on life skills assignments, marks in school and how many books the kids read during the year. b) Tennis Skills Application – Points are awarded based on a tennis rules and etiquette test, participation in McGuinty Grand Slam, Team Tennis League Participation, Rookie Tournament Participation, and the completed Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards.
